Forever Fun is proud to show off our new Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer figures for 2011. To kick off our figures, we are excited to introduce NEW Young Buck Rudolph. He’s ready to guide Santa through the winter storm with his red nose and green harness. He comes on his own attached snow base, which makes him perfect for display and play. With Rudolph up front, Santa is on his way.

When there’s no response from Forever Fun how can there be anything being discussed? I don’t expect we’ll get told where everything is at until December again like last year, making it too late to find everything. This is what I loved about Palisades Toys. They made a point of interacting with collectors once every few weeks or so. We knew what was coming out and where it would be months before it hit. There will probably never be another collecting experience like that again. It’s a shame because this board would be a great place to have that sort of fan participation and interaction again.

Vader – I’m with you but I can see what seems to be going on.
In my opinion, since Rudolph and Charlie Brown remain the biggest sellers we see retread upon retread of them. They’ve done nearly all there is to be done with both shows to an extent (I want to see a CB Tree lot playset myself that has never been done yet) and the recession/depression has made costs rise so now we’re seeing the figures retooled in a new scale in hopes of starting over again.
Because Mickey’s Christmas Carol and Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town failed about ten years ago and the Drummer Boy PVC set failed a few years back we don’t see much spreading out into new properties either. There are still a few shows out there I believe would sell like classic Frosty and a true Grinch line (McFarlane did their series and it looked nice but they were just big PVCs. The fun of these Christmas lines is interacting the characters and you can’t do that with them when they’re just big PVCs) Because Frosty’s Winter Wonderland doesn’t sell nationally like Rudolph and Charlie Brown do I suspect that’s why we will never see classic Frosty even though more people would recognize Karen, Hocus, and Hinkle over Crystal, Jack Frost, and the Snow Parson as it’s aired on network TV every year since 1969.
What I’d personally like to see done, even with the new rescaled line, is for Forever Fun to go to Classic Media and WB and negotiate a Classic Christmas Cartoon line where they could mix the more popular characters in from all the properties both companies own. They’d probably have to alternate studio by wave but it’s not unprecedented as Neca does lines like this with various film studios in a single line banner. If this were attempted we could then get beloved characters like Magoo, Nestor, and Father Time without committing to an entire line of figures based on each film. It would also be possible to integrate in Drummer Boy and Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town characters into this line as well. Since characters from Rudolph and Frosty are the most beloved you make those characters your anchor characters to merit the more fan oriented ones in each wave. Even if they only did this on a PVC scale it would be great. But I highly doubt we’ll only ever see more Rudolph and Charlie Brown because that’s what sells best and it keeps cost down. (They tool 1 Charlie Brown figure and can use it for Halloween, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Easter, and whenever else. They tool a Rudolph he can only come out at Christmas or in other terms, be on sale for 2 or 3 months out of 12 depending on which store carries him.) These lines may have started with collectors in mind but now they’re more gift and stocking stuffer oriented. It’s a shame but it is what it is. I hope we’ll one day see more collector based stuff but it seems very unlikely now.
